Job description
We're looking for an Experienced / Senior Front-End Web Developer (WordPress) to build, optimise, and scale our editorial websites.
You'll own front-end quality and performance across our WordPress + Tailwind + Cloudflare stack - Shipping fast, secure, and accessible experiences, converting Figma designs into custom themes, and crafting flexible ACF-based content models for our editors.
You'll lead performance optimisation, Core Web Vitals improvements, and scalable component design as we launch a series of new sites in the coming year.

You'll join a small, supportive team where your ideas shape our product and processes. We're growing fast, and this role directly impacts a publication that reaches 50,000 + readers monthly.
You'll work directly on:
- A high-growth cybersecurity industry website (we're not an agency)
- New site launches, iterative UX improvements, and performance initiatives
- Custom theme / plugin development to support editorial and commercial features, * Build and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins using ACF
- Convert Figma designs into responsive, Tailwind-based templates
- Continuously optimise for Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, and PageSpeed Insights scores
- Configure and tune Cloudflare caching, CDN, and asset-delivery rules
- Implement structured data and schema markup for editorial SEO
- Integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services
- Maintain Production, Staging, and Development environments with clean CI/CD workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve front-end bugs; ship well-tested, performant code
- Contribute to our internal component library and front-end standards
Requirements
Do you have experience in WordPress?, * 3 + years' professional WordPress development experience
- Strong front-end skills: HTML, CSS, Tailwind, and solid PHP fundamentals
- Proven theme / plugin development experience
- Expertise with ACF and custom Gutenberg / field-based content models
- Experience with utility-first CSS (e.g., Tailwind) is preferred; familiarity with component-based front-end frameworks (React or Vue) for Gutenberg blocks is a plus
- Familiarity with modern tooling and workflows (Git, DeployBot or similar CI/CD, Cloudflare)
- Knowledge of modern build pipelines (e.g., Vite, Webpack, npm/Yarn, or similar)
- RESTful APIs and third-party integrations
- Responsive design and accessibility best practices
- SEO and editorial schema know-how; GTM & GA configuration
- Demonstrated success improving Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights metrics
- Performance mindset and excellent attention to detail
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Cloudflare Workers, Page Rules, or image optimisation
- Experience on editorial / media titles
- Practical use of AI tools to accelerate responsible development
- Prior agency or multi-site experience
