Job description

R&D Partners is seeking a Data Privacy Manager to join a leading diagnostics company in the UK and Ireland. This role will report to the Director of Legal and Compliance/Data Protection Officer and is critical in ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will implement and maintain a robust local privacy framework while fostering a culture of data protection within the organization., Governance & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain a local privacy framework aligned with GDPR, UK GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018. Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions for all data privacy topics.
  • Ensure affiliate registrations and certifications (e.g., DSPT, CyberEssentials Plus, ISO27001) are current.
  • Oversee day-to-day data privacy compliance queries.

Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide expert advice on data protection issues, including contract reviews and new projects.
  • Ensure Privacy by Design and Default principles in systems and processes.
  • Conduct and oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Manage local privacy risk assessments and mitigation plans.

Incident & Request Handling

  • Manage personal data breaches and incidents, including investigation and reporting.
  • Handle data subject requests (access, rectification, erasure, portability).
  • Maintain records of processing activities and compliance documentation.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and deliver employee training programs on data privacy principles.
  • Lead awareness campaigns to promote a culture of data protection.
  • Maintain communication tools such as intranet pages for data privacy.

Reporting & Audits

  • Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Support compliance monitoring, audits, and assurance declarations.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions from inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • Significant relevant experience and a BSc or nursing qualification in a scientific discipline.
  • Previous study management/coordination experience at a Senior CTMA level.
  • Monitoring experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Virology is advantageous but not essential.
  • Thorough understanding of FDA/EU Regulations, ICH Guidelines, and GCPs.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changes.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
