Job description
We're receruiting for a well established MSP in the Milton Keynes area who are seeking to build and train their new hires.
Whether you're early in your IT on-site or networking support career, you will already understand Wi-Fi, networking and some IT. You are not expected to be a router config guru or Aruba specialist from day 1.
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills across Microsoft 365, Teams, networking, and some VoIP technologies.
You'll be working on-site, have a mentor and in time be expected to lead your own installation projects. It takes time and with access to senior engineers, you will get ample opportunity to learn and develop.
If you're motivated, professional, and enjoy troubleshooting, we'd love to hear from you.
Some of the work you will be doing:
- Respond to support tickets (with a system calling on your existing experience - could be ServiceNow, Freshservice, Autotask or another).
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related problems on hardware such as Aruba, Cisco Meraki or Dell which can have have Linux, Windows or other OS.
- Getting out on site to install a new network with colleagues, update or refresh a client IT network, configure and swap out a new for old VoIP system.
- Perform user account management (password resets, permissions, etc.)
- Document fixes and follow internal processes
- Escalate complex issues when needed
- (Optional) Join the 24/7 support rota once fully trained - with extra pay
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Windows Remote Desktop?, Level 2 Type Engineer:
- 3-5+ years in IT support (MSP a real advantage or a role where you worked completing more than just one work activity so had to multi-task)
- Good experience with O365, MS Teams, Azure, Active Directory, and some networking awareness of technologies such as Switches (Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Meraki for example), APs ( any such as Ruckus, Cisco Meraki, Aruba) will be helpful and an advantage.
- Able to handle complex issues and work independently
- Experience with Autotask or similar ticketing systems is a plus
- A note taker, an updater, a real communicator in English with colleagues, clients and different levels of management or staff. You have a perspective, an opinion and your contributions or questions will be welcomed by the team.
- A person who wants to learn and develop whilst being grown-up enough to accept "the error" or the "oh crap, now what do I do" and own it whilst seeking help. It is a great way to build experience, team inclusion and get to work on even more difficult challenges.
- Local resident, not a recent graduate who has completed their Masters and is looking for a stepping-stone job. You need to be a hands-on person, a switch installer in a rack and one who can configure and fix faults on-site or remotely.
