Job description
- Support the team in delivering a consistent, high-quality IT service by demonstrating excellent communication skills, including clear written responses and professional telephone etiquette.
- Monitor existing Service Desk tickets, to ensure they are being dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Ensure accurate call notes and resolution records are maintained.
- Provide technical support for the school's 1:1 iPad program, including setup, troubleshooting, and app management.
- Support the deployment and management of classroom technology and AV equipment.
- Provide support for AV systems during key school events, which may occasionally require working outside normal hours.
- Complete software updates when requested.
- Proactively identify process improvement opportunities, including end-user training tools and documentation.
- Escalate calls to relevant Xavier IT staff and third-party providers when necessary.
- Assist with the second line maintenance and support of the schools' networks.
- Help monitor, evaluate and develop IT resources across the school.
- Ensure consistent documentation of all network changes made.
- Participate in regular training and stay updated on emerging technologies.
- Help maintain a robust and secure IT environment for all site users.
- Ensure data integrity through a range of measures including antivirus, network backup, replication and network security.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and cybersecurity policies.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Operating systems?, We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed IT Technician to join the IT team at St John the Baptist School (SJB) in Woking. SJB is a vibrant, high-performing Catholic secondary school and sixth form, and forms part of the Xavier Catholic Education Trust (XCET).
The IT Technician will be required to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support staff and students, and help ensure that all IT services run reliably and securely. The position also involves proactive maintenance, monitoring network performance, and adhering to data protection and safeguarding standards.
The successful candidate will also be expected to support and visit multiple schools within XCET as required, providing on-site assistance and contributing to trust-wide IT projects. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
Skills
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an IT support role.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality technical support.
- Excellent customer-facing skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- High level of initiative
- A commitment to safeguarding, with suitability confirmed through DBS checks and recruitment procedures., * IT support: 2 years (preferred)

The successful candidate will require a valid UK Driving Licence, and a vehicle is essential.
Full Time: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
