Job description

Reporting to the Operations Director, In this role you will lead the data function, driving strategic value from data assets while delivering actionable insights through analytics and reporting. As Data Lead you will manage a multidisciplinary team, provide structure and governance, and take a hands-on approach to ensure data is leveraged effectively to support business decisions, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

Your Role

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and implement the data strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts, BI developers, and data engineers.
  • Establish clear priorities, workflows, and performance metrics for the data team
  • Promote a data-driven culture across the organisation.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Deliver high-quality, actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to support regulatory, operational, and strategic requirements.

Goverance & Quality

  • Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Oversee data quality initiatives and ensure consistent data definitions and standards.
  • Collaborate with IT, Compliance teams and DPO to manage data access, privacy, and protection.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business units to understand their priorities and identify solutions to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Translate complex data concepts into clear, business-friendly language.

Hands-on Delivery

  • Personally contribute to complex data analysis, modelling, and visualisation tasks.
  • Use tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, to extract insights and automate reporting.
  • Lead the development of predictive models and performance metrics.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SQL?, * Proven experience in a data leadership role, ideally within insurance, construction, or financial services.

  • Strong technical skills in Azure Data Factory, SQL, PowerBI,
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing data teams

  • Knowledge of UK data protection regulations and insurance industry standards.
