Principal Systems Engineer Level 6

• Manage and interpret system requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and contribute to communication system architecture design.
• Model and simulate communication waveforms and networks (e.g., in MATLAB).
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports.
• Provide progress updates to the Project Engineering Lead.
• Collaborate with waveform engineering teams across airborne communication programmes.
• Manage personal workload and contribute positively to team delivery.
• Engage with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers as needed.

• Background in military or civil communication systems development.
• Proficiency in communication system modelling/analysis tools (MATLAB or similar).
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

Desirable Experience & Knowledge

• Communication air-interface protocols, modulation, and coding schemes.
• Mobile communication waveforms and associated network technologies.
• RF system hardware (transmitters, receivers, SDRs, filtering).
• Communications security (COMSEC) principles.
• Digital modulation, FEC channel coding, digital filtering.
• Understanding of FPGA-oriented algorithm optimisation.
