Job description
To play a key role in exploiting data collected by Primary Care Services and to enhance the data analysis, interpretation and presentation skills in the group, including influencing the development of relevant datasets to appropriately reflect the information needs of current NHS Wales initiatives. To carry out innovative analyses and produce reports into the quality of data held by Primary Care Services and ensure that analysts are aware of potentially problematic areas. Provide guidance on data and analytical matters to both internal and external customers and junior members of staff. To ensure that all information is subject to standard quality and checking procedures, maintaining and enhancing the relevant documentation to contribute to the knowledge management and sharing within the team. Ensure that information released from Primary Care Services is fit for purpose and complies with information governance. The post holder will be required to lead projects in the area of Analysis and Statistical Services and will be required to represent Analysis and Statistical Services on major projects within Primary Care Services as well as outside organisations. This will involve organising and attending meetings and liaising with other members of the project team and NHS Wales/Welsh Assembly Government/Academic contacts. Present results of analyses to NHS Wales/Welsh Assembly Government/Academic contacts either by written reports or visual presentations. Responsible for the investigation, development and implementation of best practice and information governance and ensures procedures are updated to reflect changes in practice or legislation. Provides advice to the department and ensures adherence to Caldicott principles, Data protection and FOI. This involves liaison with NHS Wales organisations, Welsh Assembly Government and all Wales groups. Chairs internal working groups, advising on best practice and data quality.
