Job description

I am working with a forward-thinking organisation that is modernising its data capabilities to enable scalable analytics, reporting and data-driven decision-making across the Group. They are looking for a Head of Data to define and lead the company's overall data strategy, ensuring the organisation maximises the value of its data assets.

This is a strategic leadership role with minimal hands-on technical work. You will focus on shaping the vision for data, establishing governance frameworks and driving adoption of modern data and analytics practices across the business. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, technology teams and business units to embed data as a core enabler for growth and innovation.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining and implementing the organisation's data strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Establishing data governance, quality and compliance frameworks.
  • Leading the design and delivery of a scalable, cloud-first data architecture.
  • Overseeing the development of data platforms, including data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Driving adoption of advanced analytics and reporting tools across the business.
  • Managing and mentoring a growing data team to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior data leadership role (Head of Data, Data Director, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms and architecture, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, or Azure Databricks.
  • Expertise in data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
  • Knowledge of analytics and BI tools such as Power BI or similar.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
