Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hillingdon to assist with the appointment of a Finance Management Systems Accountant, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., The Finance Management Systems Accountant will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and development of the Councils Oracle Cloud ERP system. The role focuses on General Ledger (GL) structure, coding, and hierarchy maintenance; user administration; module support (GL, AP, AR, P2P, Projects desirable); resolving system queries; and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

This is a BAU systems support role suited to someone with an eye for detail, strong Excel skills, and experience with Oracle ERP in a large or complex organisation. The postholder will assist with routine financial system checks, month-end processes, quarterly patch testing, and ensuring financial structures reflect the councils organisational and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the Oracle Cloud ERP General Ledger structure including creation, amendment, and end-dating of segment codes.
  • Ensure financial hierarchies, structures and coding blocks reflect organisational changes and statutory requirements (including SERCOP).
  • Manage assigned queries via the call logging system, providing clear, timely and customer-focused solutions.
  • Work closely with AP, AR, P2P and GL module leads to troubleshoot issues and support end users across the council.
  • Support monthly and annual close processes including interface monitoring, data validation and reconciliation checks.
  • Assist with ensuring the Trial Balance, subledger reconciliations, and import tables are accurate and cleared.

Requirements

  • 3 GCSE passes including Maths & English; or vocational equivalent.
  • AAT fully qualified or equivalent and / or experience requirements as set out below.

Experience:

  • Experience using ERP financial systems within a large or complex organisation.
  • Practical experience of Oracle Cloud (or similar) with strong understanding of GL structures and financial hierarchies.
  • Experience in BAU system support, coding maintenance, or user administration.
  • Experience working with routine system checks, reconciliations or month-end processes.
