Job description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Software Application Engineer to join our growing team, working on-site with our client in central Manchester at least two days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in application development and support, primarily using C# and the .NET Framework. You'll be part of a collaborative environment, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that make a real impact., As an entry-level engineer, you will:
- Support the development and maintenance of software applications and internal projects.
- Learn to design and implement solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Assist in configuring, programming, and testing application components.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues under supervision.
- Participate in design, coding, and testing reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with business analysts and QA teams to understand requirements and test outcomes.
- Engage in code reviews and work closely with senior developers and architects.
- Help maintain development, testing, and production environments.
- Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Provide regular progress updates to your project lead or manager.
- Receive structured training and mentorship to support your professional growth.
Requirements
Good communication skills, * A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- A foundational understanding of C# and the .NET Framework.
- Familiarity with software development principles and lifecycle.
- Interest in DevOps and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Nexus).
- A willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Exposure to ClearPath (COBOL on ClearPath 2200) and ePortal is a plus-but not required. Willingness to learn these technologies is essential.
