Job description
Operations & Infrastructure Management
-
Manage 24/7 site engineering operations, including shift planning, maintenance schedules, and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
-
Oversee critical infrastructure systems including electrical components (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units) and mechanical systems (chillers, pumps, air handling units)
-
Drive Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) improvements, optimising cooling, power, and infrastructure for maximum efficiency

Manage and optimise space and power to maximise opportunities for growth and operational efficiency
-
Plan and deliver site infrastructure projects on time, within scope, and on budget, * Implement rigorous training programs that prepare staff for various operational scenarios through systematic skill development
Compliance & Safety
-
Ensure adherence to and exceed Health & Safety standards in all operations
-
Maintain compliance with health & safety, security procedures, and compliance accreditations
-
Ensure understanding of UK regulatory requirements, particularly health and safety legislation
-
Maintain a safe working environment and drive continuous safety improvements
Budget & Cost Management
-
Recommend and control site budgets, ensuring expenditure aligns with agreed objectives and delivers best value
-
Manage budgets, cost controls, and resource planning effectively
-
Drive operational efficiency initiatives that reduce costs while maintaining service quality
Risk Management & Incident Response
-
Maintain an up-to-date Risk Register and oversee all site inspections
-
Act as senior incident lead during critical events, coordinating teams and ensuring timely resolution
-
Lead root cause analysis within broader operational contexts and ensure corrective actions are implemented
-
Ensure compliance with company procedures and mitigate potential issues
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
-
Oversee subcontractor management and ensure vendors consistently deliver to agreed KPIs and SLAs
-
Build strong supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives
-
Ensure service excellence, and maintain high client satisfaction
-
Partner closely with senior stakeholders on site capacity planning and infrastructure strategy
Requirements
-
Advanced electrical or mechanical qualification (Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant engineering discipline) or equivalent practical/industry experience
-
Data centre operations experience
-
Professional certifications in facilities management or engineering disciplines
Leadership & Team Development

Lead, inspire, and develop teams of experienced technical professionals

Act as a role model, driving service excellence, training, and development for all team members

Comprehensive expertise in mission-critical infrastructure systems

Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centre environments

Previous experience in mission-critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, power plants, telecommunications, or military facilities
-
Advanced education in technology or engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Leadership Experience

Proven leadership experience in developing high-performing technical teams
-
Track record of raising performance standards and delivering operational excellence
-
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in complex, high-availability environments
-
Typically 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent progressive leadership roles
