Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal or Associate Wastewater Network Modeller to join our national wastewater network modelling team. Following our success in securing multiple AMP8 Frameworks, in addition to our continued support to Scottish Water and the input we provide to international projects we offer a diverse and exciting range of opportunities for you to lead, shape, and drive.
You will be a driven individual experienced in wastewater modelling, and have the desire to evolve within Mott MacDonald, whilst playing a key role in mentoring and leadership of others. You will be able to operate proactively to lead projects and people to deliver successful outcomes. As a Principal or Associate Modeller, you would be responsible for technical leadership, taking on management responsibilities and influencing modelling strategy both within Mott MacDonald and with specific clients.
Typical duties would include:
- Leading flood alleviation, environmental studies and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO) projects
- Leading model build, model maintenance, and verification projects
- Leading the development of survey specifications
- Writing reports and preparing presentation materials and checking the completion of these deliverables by less experienced staff
- Supervising and developing staff and providing guidance to support their professional development
- Working in close partnership with clients representing the company in meetings, workshops and business development opportunities
- Driving continuous improvement in project delivery
- Involvement in bidding opportunities contributing to technical and commercial submissions

Requirements
- Proven experience of model build, verification and solution development
- Experience in managing projects, leading teams and development of people
- Expertise in use of InfoWorks ICM, as well as GIS packages
- Good collaboration and communication skills, able to hold technical discussions in a logical and coherent fashion in both oral presentations and written reports, to colleagues, non-technical staff and clients
- Able to check and review work of others to provide quality assurance and drive continuous improvement in work delivered to the client
- Relevant degree qualified or vocational qualification. Chartered with a relevant professional institution (i.e. ICE or CIWEM) or have equivalent experience
Desirable:
- Demonstrable experience in the UK water industry
- Any programming skills in FME or languages such as VBA, Ruby scripts or Python would be advantageous but not essential
- Experience in collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Project Management experience or skills
- Line Management experience or skills
