Job description

As a Lead Learning Engineer at Faculty, you'll ensure our AI-powered education solutions are grounded in learning science, measurably effective, and set a global standard for education innovation and excellence. You will set the strategy for learning design and evaluation, drive the creation and adoption of our Learning Engineering Playbook, and ensure our products genuinely improve how people learn.

Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will architect scalable, data-rich learning systems and guide others to embed best-in-class learning science into our product development., Defining learning goals and skill models, and breaking them down into scaffolded tasks, assessments, feedback loops, and adaptivity logic.

  • Designing instrumentation schemas (i.e., the events, labels, and outcomes we track) and setting metrics that link product use to learning outcomes like mastery or retention.
  • Leading formative studies and collaborating on summative evaluations to validate learning impact.
  • Working closely with UX, data science, and engineering teams to ensure learning-science principles are embedded in user flows and data pipelines.
  • Contributing to Faculty's Learning Engineering Playbook, refining design principles, checklists, and measurement tools to support reuse and consistency across projects.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams and clients in applying learning-science best practice through collaborative design sessions and informal coaching.

Requirements

You have a strong foundation in learning sciences, instructional design, educational psychology, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • You've designed digital learning experiences and understand how to build effective user interactions in adaptive or AI-supported tools.
  • You're comfortable designing and analysing learning instrumentation - from A/B testing to formative or quasi-experimental studies.
  • You can collaborate confidently with data scientists and engineers - specifying evaluation metrics, designing telemetry flows, and ensuring data supports learning outcomes.
  • You're a clear communicator who can translate complex learning-science ideas into practical input for product and engineering teams.
