Job description
This role is critical to successfully delivering key mandatory digital tax reporting projects across their European entities, specifically focusing on the technical implementation and configuration of E-invoicing and/or Standard Audit File - Tax (SAF-T) solutions on an external service provider's platform, working together with their IT experts and local finance experts, and ensuring all data mapping and transformation meets local regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on implementation role within a cross-functional team and is distinct from routine compliance, filing, or review functions. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between Tax requirements, IT systems, and the chosen vendor solution.
Key Deliverables
- Project Leadership & Execution: Act as the primary tax project lead with technical experiences on E-invoicing (e.g., Peppol, specific country mandates) and/or SAF-T implementation projects in various jurisdictions mainly in Europe.
- Requirements Definition: Translate complex local tax authority mandates and business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements for system configuration and data extraction.
- Data Mapping & Configuration:
- Lead the comprehensive mapping of data fields from source ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics) to the required E-invoicing or SAF-T schema (XML, specified file formats).
- Configure and test data transformation rules within the chosen tax technology solution or middleware.
- System Integration: Work closely with the IT team and external technology vendor to ensure seamless integration between core ERP systems, tax engines, and e-reporting platforms.
- Testing & Validation: Develop and execute detailed testing scripts (UAT - User Acceptance Testing) to ensure the generated E-invoices or SAF-T files are accurate, complete, and fully compliant with local regulations.
- Documentation: Create and maintain thorough documentation, including data flow diagrams, technical configuration specifications, and process guides.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with local finance/tax teams, central IT, external consultants across multiple countries., * Proven Implementation Track Record (Mandatory): Professional experiences dedicated to hands-on, end-to-end implementation of E-invoicing and/or SAF-T solutions. Experience must go beyond simple review or filing.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of the data structure and technical schemas required for modern digital reporting (e.g., XML standards, local SAF-T requirements, Peppol specifications).
- Hands-on experience in data mapping and transformation tools/techniques.
- Familiarity with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar large-scale financial systems).
- Tax Knowledge: Solid foundational understanding of VAT principles and the specific requirements driving real-time reporting (DRR).
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple workstreams, track progress, and deliver results within tight deadlines with strong data analytical mindset and ability to interpret complex data flows and troubleshoot integration or transformation issues
- Work Style: Self-starter, highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective working remotely and independently in a flexible, multi-country environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with E-invoicing mandates such as Italy, Romania, and other countries already in live.
- Experience with a specific SAF-T implementation such as Romania, Poland, Denmark and other countries in live.
- Experience implementing or integrating with a dedicated Tax Engine (e.g., Vertex, Sovos, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE).
