Job description

Join a world-class team shaping the future of onboard computing for next-generation defence systems. We're looking for an experienced Mission Systems Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge computing architectures for the FCAS (Future Combat Air System) programme.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading system design activities within the Onboard Computing Systems domain.
  • Developing computing architectures, hardware and software solutions for FCAS.
  • Working across UK and international teams (including Japan and Italy) as a recognised technical expert.
  • Contributing to areas such as systems architecture, IMA computing, MBSE, security/cryptography, modelling & simulation, complex electronic hardware or secure networking.
  • Building strong partnerships with internal teams, customers, suppliers and global partners.
  • Coaching and supporting junior engineers.
  • Representing the business in technical meetings and helping solve complex engineering challenges.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Verilog?, Do you have experience working on complex computing or avionics systems?

Are you comfortable leading system design activities and working with international stakeholders?

Do you enjoy solving technical challenges and mentoring other engineers?, * Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline.

  • Strong background in Systems Engineering and the engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience working on complex, safety- or security-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of avionics, IMA, computing systems, systems integration or similar domains (aircraft experience is a bonus).
  • Experience with VHDL, Verilog, Simulink or similar tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to balance technical, schedule and cost considerations.
