Job description
We have a vacancy for a Senior Design Engineer to join the Engineering team working within our Microelectronics business. In this role your primary responsibility will be to design and develop power modules. Working as part of the wider engineering team you will be involved in a wide range of projects spanning R&D, development and NPI. Whilst the successful candidate will be responsible for designing power modules, you may also be asked to assist the wider engineering team by providing support to sustain and improve existing products lines, including yield improvements and cost reduction, and providing technical leadership., Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing power module products in accordance with the NPI procedure, through concept, design & development and into the operational production phases.
- Supporting the specification and introduction of power module products.
- Power Module electrical; mechanical and thermal design; design for manufacture and high reliability application requirements.
- Creating procurement and manufacturing drawings and specifications.
- Preparing design and solution reports with costing estimates to support NPI projects.
- Working with the sales and business development team in the support of new business opportunities.
- Supporting existing product lines and processes throughout the entire life cycle.
- Supporting the execution of the business strategic plan and keeping abreast of new technologies and business opportunities.
- Ensuring safe working practices are adopted and health and safety legislation are adhered to when implementing new products, materials processes, or equipment.
On occasion, this role may require visits to customers or suppliers and may also involve foreign travel.
Requirements
Do you have experience in CAD?, * Experience designing power modules or other power products.
- Knowledge of SiC / GaN /Silicon technologies and common Semiconductor devices (MOSFET, IGBT, Diodes, Bipolar Transistors etc) and performance requirements.
- Familiarity with requirements for aerospace and high-rel applications.
- Competent in both mechanical & electronics CAD design and performing thermal, mechanical, and electrical simulations.
- Have a strong technical bias, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- A Degree, or HND/HNC with equivalent experience, in an engineering discipline.
