What you'll build:
At SAP University Alliances we partner with other SAP team to provide the best services to foster strategic research collaborations between SAP and academia.
SAP's Research & Innovation (R&I) business unit shapes the next generation of enterprise software. As part of this organization, the Applied Research team is a technology-focused and research-driven expert team that is responsible for:
- Innovating with Line of Businesses (LoBs) , advising on and solving their research challenges, as well as developing together prototypes and new features
- Applying latest research results , publishing academic results, supervising theses and ensuring strong academic collaborations (such as joint research projects, guest lectures, committees) with strategically important universities
- Developing engineering and research talent with individual grow paths from idea to product
Currently, we are working closely with SAP Signavio and Business AI on the topics of Agent Mining as well as Agent Constraints. And we are always looking for new topics in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), data management, user experience, and cloud computing.

This position is especially attractive for PhD graduates and research-interested persons that want to work on the interface between academia and industry, have own ideas and want to bring them into products, as well as are not afraid from learning something new every day. We are looking for exceptional candidates to strengthen our applied research group who are interested in both conceptual work and software engineering.
Requirements
- Very good Ph.D. degree in computer science (at least a submitted PhD thesis is required), software engineering, or a related field
- Deep domain expertise in at least two of our following priority topics: AI, enterprise software and business processes, data management, user experience, quantum computing, robotics, or cloud computing
- Good analytical skills to assess data and present core insights in a clear and compelling way
- High drive to new technologies and understanding how these help to tackle enterprise challenges
- Strong programming skills and knowledge with related AI tools
- Reliable and open-minded with strong team working skills, determined to reach a goal in time as well as the ability to work independently and to prioritize
- Fluent English and German language skills - written and verbal
