Job description

As an IT Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support and play a key role in delivering complex IT solutions. You will handle escalated service requests, assist with project deployments, and act as a technical lead during client engagements. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will also mentor junior technicians and contribute to process improvements within the technical team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Provide on-site support for installations, upgrades, and critical client projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Lead project implementation, including migrations, upgrades, and deployments for Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Configure and maintain servers, storage, and networking equipment, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, including compliance, identity, and advanced security configurations.
  • Develop automation scripts and workflows using PowerShell and related tools to improve efficiency.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including process guides and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners for advanced troubleshooting and solution design.
  • Mentor junior technicians, offering guidance and knowledge sharing to enhance team capability.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Azure administration and hybrid environments.
  • Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Management.
  • Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS).
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions (including Veeam).
  • Networking fundamentals (routing, VPN, VLAN, VoIP, wireless).
  • PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Full and clean driving licence
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for client-facing interactions.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in project delivery and IT infrastructure deployments.
  • Familiarity with Barracuda security solutions.
  • Exposure to Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Previous experience in a busy service desk or MSP environment.

Academic Background:

  • Level 4 or higher qualification in IT or equivalent experience.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics., * Minimum IT Experience: 3-5 years in IT support or infrastructure roles.
  • Leadership/Technical Years: At least 2 years handling advanced technical responsibilities or acting as an escalation point.
