Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining Unix/Linux-based systems, responding to technical issues, performing routine maintenance and patching, and working closely with users to resolve system-related issues. A strong background in Solaris (10 & 11; ideally 8/9), scripting (Bash or Python), and system troubleshooting is essential.
Requirements
This role requires full-time onsite presence in Bristol OR Barrow-in-Furness. Due to the nature of the work, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years and sole UK passport holder., * Proven experience in Unix/Linux system administration
- Solaris 10 & 11 (ideally 8/9 also)
- Scripting in Bash and/or Python
- Troubleshooting hardware/software/network issues
- VMware and system monitoring tools (e.g. vROps)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Candidates must also be willing to provide on-call support on a rota basis.
