Job description
As a Network Infrastructure Specialist at Global, your responsibilities will encompass several key areas:
Innovate with Leading Technology (20%): You will be actively involved in our network evolution, working with the latest technologies from our key vendors, including Juniper, Arista, and Cisco. Your strong knowledge of advanced networking concepts, such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and Multicast, will be essential as you contribute to the robust infrastructure that underpins all Global's services.
Support and Protect (20%): You will support the full lifecycle of our network services, from performance to security. This includes managing our firewall estate, handling complex incidents, and conducting root cause analysis. You will contribute to improving incident response procedures.
Incident Response: Supporting escalation of faults, providing detailed feedback during incidents, and assisting with mitigation of attacks to protect our services.
Change Management: Managing changes in a structured manner and participating in peer reviews and approvals.
Problem Management: Conducting hands-on troubleshooting to find the root cause and diagnose issues for any incidents, and ensuring clear communication is delivered to the business via post-incident reviews.
Collaboration (20%): Your role is built on partnerships; you will work directly alongside software developers and broadcast engineers to support the technical delivery of projects. This collaboration extends to providing specialist-level support and technical guidance.

What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you'll have:
Reviewed and Understood the Core Architecture: Completed a comprehensive review of the network topology and traffic flows, identifying key areas for improvement in performance, security, and scalability.
Become Familiar with Technical Standards: Mastered all network documentation and begun to contribute to improving gaps, helping to maintain quality and accuracy standards.
Understood Monitoring and Alerting: Mastered our full suite of monitoring tools and contributed to optimisations to improve proactive fault detection and alerting.
Established Working Relationships with Vendors: Built effective technical relationships with key vendors like Check Point, Juniper and Arista, participating in escalation calls and supporting the resolution of complex issues.
Built Strong Relationships: Developed working relationships with the infrastructure team and key business stakeholders, understanding their challenges and contributing to solutions that support their goals.
Requirements
Are you a dedicated and vigilant individual with a passion for Networking? Are you looking for a role in a fast-paced environment where your network skills and commitment to maintaining a secure, stable and scalable environment are valued? This role is for you., Technical Skills: A deep, hands-on foundation in advanced networking (BGP, OSPF, MPLS). Significant experience with our key vendors (Juniper, Cisco, Arista). Professional-level certifications (CCNP, JNCIS/JNCIP) or equivalent experience are highly desirable.
Firewall Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience in managing and designing solutions with Check Point firewalls. Professional-level certifications (CCSA, CCSE) or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
Project Experience: Experience contributing to the technical implementation of network projects, from design and planning through to execution and handover.
Problem-Solving Skills: A methodical mindset for resolving complex network issues, working alongside the team to find solutions.
Collaborative Leadership: The ability to communicate complex technical designs and strategies to stakeholders and work effectively within the team.
