Our Shared Services team deliver specialist processes that have a direct impact on the performance of Network Rail, our customers and suppliers. These services include payroll, recruitment and onboarding, payables, receivables, financial accounting, reporting, and helpdesk support
Within the Control & Process Framework team, we support shared services to maintain a robust control framework, risk management, and governance processes, and improve processes and controls whilst managing our risk profile.
We're looking for a self-starter with a proactive attitude and the confidence to operate independently to join our Control & Process Framework team at Network Rail in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are essential. The role involves managing multiple tasks simultaneously, putting the customer at the heart of what we do. The position demands a strong ability to be collaborative, juggle responsibilities and deliver consistently under pressure.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support our Golden Threads across shared services with emphasis on AP and AR teams to drive and support adherence to our control framework
- Partner with internal teams to ensure sound decisions and long-term enhancements to processes and controls.
- Support financial process reviews across the business to identify and implement control improvement
- Own and implement validation & testing schedules for standard operating procedures and controls
- Mitigate all known risks, where new issues are identified work in conjunction with shared service colleagues to understand root cause and develop plans to mitigate.
- Support continuous improvement across the control framework, driving efficiency through automation, digital tools, and process optimisation.
- Working collaboratively with shared services teams to ensure compliance to policy and regulations including GDPR and HMRC / tax regulations and helping to share knowledge and understanding
- Building knowledge and understanding within the teams of the processes undertaken and supporting the shared services teams to ensure each process is documented then kept updated in line with current practice
- Deliver accurate, timely reporting using Power BI and other tools to provide insightful analysis to support strategy and planning within shared services
- Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including shared services teams, internal audit and National Audit Office.
Requirements
Are you someone with excellent attention to detail and accuracy? Do you have experience of working in accounts payable/accounts receivable with a financial control/risk assurance background? Do you thrive when working autonomously in a fast-paced environment managing several important tasks at once? Ideally you will be able to problem solve and demonstrate attention to detail within a fast-moving financial environment., * We're looking for someone who's inquisitive with strong analytical skills and attention to detail who can demonstrate a genuine interest in how processes and controls work and finding smarter ways to do them
- Experience of managing improvement projects
- Exceptional customer focus/engagement/stakeholder management skills
- Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills at senior management level.
- Experience working at a similar level within a Shared Services environment
- Excellent communication skills, * Knowledge of universal COSO guidelines to evaluate internal controls, risk management and fraud
- ORACLE eBusiness Suite experience
- Studying for AAT/ACCA qualifications
- Embrace using Artificial Intelligence
