Job description
Quantum Technology Laboratories GmbH is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees! Your Role
- Translate system requirements into robust embedded system architectures, including partitioning across MCU/FPGA/ASIC and software.
- Select suitable components (MCUs/SoCs, ADC/DACs, clocks, power, memories) and define interfaces to implement the architecture.
- Design and integrate interfaces to digital (e.g. telemetry/telecommand buses) and analog (e.g. Photodiodes) peripherals and components.
- Develop high-throughput digital signal processing units for real-time acquisition, filtering and processing of digital data streams.
- Develop embedded software (C/C++ on bare-metal and/or RTOS), including boot, drivers, middleware, and application logic.
- Collaborate closely with FPGA, hardware, and optical engineering teams to deliver complex quantum-cryptography solutions.
- Create documentation: requirements, interface control documents, design specs, and verification plans.
- Establish quality practices: code reviews, static analysis, unit/integration testing, and CI for firmware.
- Contribute to system security, reliability, EMC/EMI, and DfX considerations throughout the lifecycle.
Requirements
- Strong track record designing embedded architectures from requirements through production.
- Knowledge of MCU/SoC/SoM platforms, RTOS concepts, memory/clocking, and low-level drivers.
- Fluency with common buses/protocols and analog fundamentals.
- Proficiency in C/C++; familiarity with scripting (Python) for test/automation.
- Experience integrating with FPGAs and reading hardware schematics/PCB layouts.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and documentation skills; ability to lead design reviews and mentor others.
Nice to have
- Embedded cybersecurity expertise (secure boot, key management, hardening).
- Space industry experience (radiation/thermal considerations, ECSS/NASA or DO- standards, environmental testing).
