Job description

As the primary analyst for Micrometeoroid and Orbital Debris (MMOD) risk on spaceflight hardware, you will lead up efforts to predict MMOD damage to Amazon Leo spacecraft, run test campaigns down here on Earth to help ground our models, and help continually improve our tools as your day-to-day job. For 25% of your time you will also support miscellaneous Systems Engineering tasks that need attention. This can range from managing a cross-cutting technical budget, to maintaining spacecraft architectural diagrams, or helping draft requirements. Key Job Responsibilities

  • Quantify risk to spaceflight hardware by modeling and simulation
  • Design, support logistics for, and report on MMOD-related test campaigns
  • Improve internal MMOD analysis processes and tools
  • Interface and collaborate with industry experts on general best-practices
  • Secondarily: support other system engineering tasks as-needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Experience in Python script development
  • Experience meshing geometry (FEMAP preferred)
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (requirement management, budget allocations, MBSE diagrams, etc.), * Master's degree in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Experience manipulating parametric CAD models (NX preferred)
  • Prior experience in MMOD modeling/test
  • Prior experience in ORDEM, MEM, and/or MASTER environmental models
  • Prior experience in spacecraft systems engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
