Job description

The Platform (AWS) Engineer role is responsible for the day-to-day management, optimisation, and support of customer AWS environments within IT Naturally's managed services framework. This role ensures that customer cloud platforms are secure, resilient, cost-optimised, and aligned with best practices, while delivering an exceptional service experience consistent with IT Naturally's values and ISO standards.

The key purpose of the role is to

  • Provide operational ownership of customer AWS environments, ensuring they remain stable, secure, compliant, and performant.
  • Act as a trusted technical partner to customers, contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and proactive lifecycle management.
  • Support IT Naturally's service commitments by delivering expert-level cloud operations within a 24/7 managed service.

Role Responsibilities

Platform Operations & Management

  • Oversee daily operation of customer AWS services, including monitoring, incident response, backup and recovery, capacity management, patching, and performance optimisation.
  • Maintain and enhance infrastructure-as-code (IaC) deployments (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles and IT Naturally standards across all customer platforms.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and manage AWS security controls, identity and access management, network security, and logging/monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the Cyber Security team to ensure environments meet IT Naturally's embedded security baseline.
  • Support customer compliance with industry frameworks (ISO/IEC 20000, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, etc.).

Service Delivery & Customer Experience

  • Work closely with Service Management to provide clear, transparent updates and reporting.
  • Contribute to proactive quarterly business reviews, advising customers on optimisation, automation, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all changes follow IT Naturally's change management processes with clear documentation and testing.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and refine automation for provisioning, configuration, patching, and monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in internal projects supporting the evolution of IT Naturally's cloud services portfolio.

Collaboration & Support

  • Collaborate with Network, Service Desk, EUC, and Cyber Security teams to deliver end-to-end service.
  • Provide technical escalation support for cloud-related incidents.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to maintain 24/7 service coverage.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Hands-on experience managing production AWS environments in an MSP or enterprise setting.

  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS, etc.).
  • Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation using Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud governance.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Zabbix, DataDog, etc.).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Desirable

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Advanced Networking).
  • Experience in ISO-certified environments (ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 27001).
  • Experience with Cisco and Fortinet integrations, hybrid cloud, or multi-cloud management.
  • Interest or experience in sustainability-driven IT operations., * AWS : 3 years (required)
