Job description

You are responsible for the architecture and design end-to-end AI solutions, covering model development, data pipelines, evaluation, MLOps, and trustworthy AI.

You define and evolve the architecture and service portfolio for AI infrastructure and applications in collaboration with partner organisations, industry, and public institutions.

You develop reference architectures and workflows (e.g., LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, AI agents) and provide technical guidance for implementation in partner projects.

You ensure seamless integration of AI services across hybrid cloud and HPC environments, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.

You embed trustworthy AI principles into system design - addressing transparency, bias, privacy, and compliance with the EU AI Act.

You collaborate with data scientists and domain experts to translate user needs into robust technical architectures.

You contribute to documentation, best practices, and training materials to support adoption and knowledge transfer.

You ensure the sustainable implementation and exploitation of results (e.g., patents, licenses, company formation, technology transfer).

When necessary, you represent AI Factory Austria in national and international expert committees, networks, and conferences, significantly contributing to the visibility and reputation of Austria as an AI hub.
Requirements
- Completed degree (Master's/PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Several years of experience in AI architecture, AI/ML solution design, and scalable MLOps environments
- Strong understanding of AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), data pipelines, and cloud/HPC infrastructure
- Proven practical experience in MLOps: Docker/Kubernetes, GitOps, MLflow/Kubeflow, observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK)
- Experience with HPC schedulers (e.g., SLURM) and hybrid cloud architectures
- Practical experience with Responsible-AI-Frameworks and the EU-AI-Regulations
- Experience with research and industry projects and/or knowledge of funding mechanisms and project financing is advantageous
- Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working across disciplines and organisations
- Excellent language skills in English, German would be an advantage
- You should be eligible for working in Austria

- The gross annual salary starts at EUR 59.934,-- as a minimum according to the non-university collective agreement. The actual total salary package is determined individually according to your qualifications and experience.
- The position is funded by the AI Factory Austria until June 2028. An extension beyond this period may be possible depending on future project developments.
