Job description

The Senior Geospatial Data Architect will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced Earth Observation and climate data solutions that support mitigation and adaptation initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across Europe and beyond, collaborating with public authorities, technical partners, and institutional clients. You will contribute to building robust data architectures, integrating AI-ready systems, and guiding technical implementation for complex geospatial projects. Working in a remote-friendly, mission-driven environment, you will shape the development of climate-focused data services and contribute to the strategic growth of the team and its projects. This position is ideal for someone passionate about climate action, data innovation, and cross-border collaboration. Accountabilities

  • Advise and guide the AI-ready data architecture and service definition of data spaces for institutional clients.
  • Execute needs and gap assessments among stakeholders, providers, and users to identify data requirements.
  • Design and define overall system architecture and technology approach, harmonising heterogeneous data sets.
  • Create detailed technical specifications for external partners, ensuring clarity and quality standards.
  • Review partner deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals and specifications.
  • Identify technical risks and provide trade-off recommendations between scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Support project delivery by writing deliverables, participating in meetings, and managing workload independently.
  • Represent the team and organisation in online and in-person engagements.
  • Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and the creation of new services and products.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in geospatial data architecture, Earth Observation, or climate data systems.
  • Strong understanding of AI-ready data infrastructures, data lakes, and system integration.
  • Experience working independently as well as collaboratively in remote or distributed teams.
  • Ability to design and implement technical solutions that meet complex client requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of translating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives and to learn continuously within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Experience in multi-country or international projects is highly desirable.

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary for a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Remote-first work arrangement with flexibility in working patterns.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, skill development, and cross-border collaboration.
  • Participation in high-impact, climate-focused projects that influence policy and innovation.
  • Supportive and inclusive work environment fostering learning, diversity, and personal development.
