The Senior Geospatial Data Architect will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced Earth Observation and climate data solutions that support mitigation and adaptation initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across Europe and beyond, collaborating with public authorities, technical partners, and institutional clients. You will contribute to building robust data architectures, integrating AI-ready systems, and guiding technical implementation for complex geospatial projects. This position is ideal for someone passionate about climate action, data innovation, and cross-border collaboration. Accountabilities
- Advise and guide the AI-ready data architecture and service definition of data spaces for institutional clients.
- Execute needs and gap assessments among stakeholders, providers, and users to identify data requirements.
- Design and define overall system architecture and technology approach, harmonising heterogeneous data sets.
- Create detailed technical specifications for external partners, ensuring clarity and quality standards.
- Review partner deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals and specifications.
- Identify technical risks and provide trade-off recommendations between scope, budget, and timeline.
- Support project delivery by writing deliverables, participating in meetings, and managing workload independently.
- Represent the team and organisation in online and in-person engagements.
- Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and the creation of new services and products.
Requirements
- Proven experience in geospatial data architecture, Earth Observation, or climate data systems.
- Strong understanding of AI-ready data infrastructures, data lakes, and system integration.
- Experience working independently as well as collaboratively in remote or distributed teams.
- Ability to design and implement technical solutions that meet complex client requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of translating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives and to learn continuously within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
- Experience in multi-country or international projects is highly desirable.
