The role: Software Engineering Manager (9-month FTC)
You'll join our Digital Architecture & Software Engineer Centre of Excellence on a 9-month FTC basis, playing a critical role in shaping how we build software across British Airways. This team ensures we build and deliver digital products in a secure, efficient, and scalable way, while driving data-driven decisions and improving developer productivity.
What you'll do
- Implement Software Engineering's strategic vision for our DevSecOps practice, aligned with business goals.
- Lead the migration, safeguard, and uplift of our source code management platform using proven tools and techniques.
- Partner with Cyber Security, ECP, and the entire Software Engineering teams to ensure Security-by-Design and optimise platform costs and utilisation.
- Create an environment that fosters continuous improvement and modern engineering practices.
- Collaborate with and coach software engineers, maintain alignment, enabling success, while keeping accountability.
- Drive process improvements and methodically measure success across engineering initiatives.
- Evaluate new technologies and "off-the-shelf" solutions to meet business needs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex challenges.
- Ability to prioritise and guide teams toward strategic objectives.
Your experience
- Ideally you'll have a Software Engineering background, with full stack experience.
- Experience with Github, Github Actions, Terraform, AWS or other cloud platform.
- Proven track record in leading complex solution architectures across multiple domains.
- Broad experience in application development, enterprise integration, and IT infrastructure.
- Strong stakeholder management and influence at a senior level.
- Experience leading a small team to deliver cross-functional work.
