Job description

It all starts with our introductory training courses, covering everything you need to know to get started in the world of software and platform engineering. Our in-depth training is full time and is delivered on a hybrid learning basis (classroom & and remote). You'll learn a lot quite quickly - it will be fast-paced, but enjoyable and highly engaging!

After the training period you'll have the opportunity to gain industry experience by joining BAE and working on their projects. For this specific role you will:

  • Be a Platform Engineer who designs, builds and maintains scalable, resilient, secure, mission critical AWS platforms in support of software systems
  • Be part of Agile Product teams who build mission critical systems for customers
  • Join at a key point in their Cloud adoption journey and be able to help customers fully exploit the benefits of Cloud
  • Be hands on using a range of AWS services to underpin the software Products built for BAE's customers
  • Continue your learning journey with them through working with more experienced engineers as well as through structured training.

Requirements

In fact - if you don't have a degree, we definitely want to hear from you!, * Have a passion for working in Platform Engineering & Software development and an interest in exploring Agile methodologies and ways of working

  • Be able to display the following competencies and behaviours: problem solving, attention to detail, adaptability and the desire to 'fix' things
  • Be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to build trust and a rapport
  • Motivated by technical challenges and enjoy building with technology in your personal life
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn - you're up for the challenge and ready to work hard for it
  • You have a degree, but it doesn't have to be in CompSci or a STEM degree
  • You don't have a degree, but you have some recent work experience or you've been doing some upskilling in technology recently

Travel

The expectation for this role is 3 days a week minimum requirement in your base office with 4-5 days likely as your individual project requires.
