Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Oracle batch developer to work on a mission-critical 19C OLTP system that underpins key government services. This is a highly integrated, high-volume environment supporting multiple business functions across the organisation and associated departments.

Although the role is primarily remote, candidates must be prepared to attend onsite sessions up to two days per week in either Manchester or Newcastle (depending on proximity). This may not be required regularly, but candidates must be willing and able to attend when requested.

Candidates must have recent UK Government project experience and recent, hands-on experience with the technologies listed below.

Essential Experience

  • Strong hands-on development with Pro*C, PL/SQL, and Shell Scripting

  • Experience building and supporting batch processes in high-volume OLTP environments

  • Background working on Oracle 19C or similar large-scale Oracle systems

  • Strong analytical skills, including: o Understanding and analysing Legacy codebases o Contributing to solution design o Working within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to produce robust, efficient, and performant code

  • Experience with performance testing and optimisation in large, high-throughput systems

  • Recent government sector experience

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Oracle encryption, key management, dbms_crypto
  • Containerising workloads and migrating batch Servers to AWS EKS
  • Building and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • General AWS experience
  • Familiarity with Autosys, Dynatrace, or Prometheus
