Job description

  • Produce accurate and detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for fire alarm layouts, wiring schematics, and system block diagrams.
  • Update and revise drawings following site surveys, design revisions, or client feedback.
  • Work closely with design engineers, project managers, and installation teams to ensure all drawings are technically correct and meet project deadlines.
  • Prepare as-fitted drawings, schematics, and O&M documentation for handover. Review system config details and quality check.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with BS 5839-1, client specifications, and company standards.
  • Maintain drawing registers and ensure drawing control and versioning procedures are followed.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Organizational skills?, We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Drawer / CAD Technician to support the preparation of fire alarm system designs across a range of commercial projects. The successful candidate will produce high-quality CAD drawings and documentation in accordance with BS 5839 and other relevant UK fire safety standards.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in building services or electrical design, looking to specialise in the fire alarm industry.

This joining bonus will be paid upon the successful completion of the probationary period., * Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential).

  • Previous experience in a CAD role within the fire alarm, electrical, or building services sector.
  • Good understanding of fire alarm systems, devices, and wiring conventions.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to drawing production.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple drawing packages.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills., * Familiarity with BS 5839-1 and associated fire safety standards.
  • Experience working on as-installed or as-built documentation.
  • Relevant technical qualification such as HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent CAD certification.
  • Understanding of related systems (e.g. emergency lighting, access control, or security).
