Job description
This role is responsible for the design, maintenance, optimisation, and governance of these platforms, ensuring reliability, security, and standardisation across all client environments. The Platform Services Lead also acts as the senior escalation point for issues involving backup/recovery, device management, automation tooling, and core operational systems.
The role is 9am to 5pm, with a 30 minute break for lunch, Monday to Friday and based at our Woking head office., * Act as the internal SME for core operational platforms:
- Backup services,
- NAS/storage
- RMM & MDM
- Related tooling.
- Own the configuration standards, policies, and best practices across all platform managed environments.
- Lead the evaluation, adoption, and optimisation of operational tools and technologies.
- Provide escalation support for complex incidents involving platform-managed systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions across client environments.
- Ensure compliance with retention policies, recovery objective, and security requirements.
- Oversee NAS and storage deployments including performance optimisation and lifecycle management.
- Conduct periodic recovery testing and ensure documentation and reporting meet standards.
- Oversee device management tooling including Ninja (Windows), Addigy (macOS) and Intune.
- Define and maintain baseline configurations, security controls, and automation scripts.
- Ensure high compliance rates for onboarding, and endpoint health.Support deployment of new policies, packages, scripts, and automation workflows.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency, leveraging RMM capabilities and scripting
- Develop unified processes and configuration templates to standardise platform usage across clients.
- Collaborate with Cloud, Network, Security, and Service Delivery teams to improve cross-functional efficiencies.Maintain platform documentation, knowledge articles, and internal guidance materials.
- Lead platform related project work including backup migrations, NAS upgrades, management transformations, and automation rollouts.
- Provide technical input during project scoping and client proposals relating to platform services.
- Ensure project work is delivered to high technical standards with clear documentation and handover.
Requirements
Do you have experience in macOS?, * Strong experience in platform operations within an MSP or multi-client environment.
- Knowledge of backup technologies (e.g. Veeam, Acronis, Datto, or similar).
- Hands-on expertise with NAS/storage systems (Synology, QNAP, on-prem storage, etc.).
- Proficient with RMM tooling (Ninja ideally) including automation, monitoring, and remote management.
- Experience managing Apple devices using Addigy or equivalent MDM platforms.
- Understanding of patch management, endpoint security, configuration baselines, and automation scripting.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and act as a senior escalation point.
- Strong documentation, analysis, and communication skills.
