Job description
Control, Electrical & Instrument Design Engineer required for design modifications to existing plant and for design of new build facilities on a Nuclear Licenced Site.
Provision of CE&I engineering design to specified standards, regulations & design governance procedures. Designated work packages will be completed to appropriate standards of quality and safety whilst meeting programme targets. Packages of work will include the development of designs from concept through development to final production hand-over. This will involve the generation of equipment specifications, tender initiation and assessment, detail design (drawings & documentation), commissioning documentation and hand-over documentation. Duties will also include the reviewing & checking designs and supervision of supporting personnel working as part of the design team (e.g. CE&I Designers, Draughtsmen). Provision of Intelligent Customer oversight (quality and scope management) of designs placed with external design consultancies will be required.
Requirements
- Experience of working within multidiscipline teams engaged in the engineering design associated with the modification of existing/new chemical process plants or material handling equipment.
- Experience of providing designs for the modification of plant process instrumentation, control systems (typically PLC controlled plant systems and processes)
- Experience of the design of building electrical distribution systems.
- Producing and working to design Governance documentation/procedures, such as Design Quality Plans, Design Risk Assessments, Design Reviews, etc.
- Experience with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, Sistema, Dialux, ETAP, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in the responsibilities placed on Designers under the CDM Regulations
It would be advantageous but not essential for candidates to have the following experience:
- Experience of designing safety systems including BS EN ISO 13849 required with a working knowledge of BS EN ISO 61508/11 would be an advantage.
- Experience of producing designs for chemical plant environments including associated CE&I services.
- Experience of producing designs for nuclear facilities.
