Job description
Huisman Digital is a young and ambitious team with a passion for keeping our customers' equipment performing at its best through digital innovation. As we continue expanding our digital solutions across the full lifecycle of our products, we are looking for a Data Scientist with a strong technical engineering background.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of engineering and data science, applying analytical and programming skills to real-world mechanical and electrical systems. Your engineering knowledge will be key to translating equipment data into actionable insights, for example through pattern recognition, anomaly detection, fatigue calculations, and the development of predictive maintenance capabilities.
You will develop, validate, and implement analytical models that address complex engineering challenges. You will also play a key role in both shaping the roadmap for new data-driven algorithms and implementing the algorithms that emerge from it, using your engineering expertise to identify opportunities and turn them into practical solutions. Finally, you will communicate your findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a lasting impact on the performance and reliability of our equipment.
What do we expect of you?
As an Engineering Data Scientist you will be responsible for:
- Collaborate with engineers to set-up and maintain a roadmap for the development of new applications that make Huisman more data driven;
- Analyze equipment performance data to generate actionable insights for clients and internal engineering teams;
- Translate complex technical findings into clear, concise information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical models to address engineering challenges and optimize performance;
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in data science and machine learning to continuously enhance analytical methods and tools.
Requirements
- Analytically strong;
- An excellent communicator;
- A team player;
- Customer orientated;
- Stress-resistant and good at setting priorities.
You have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical engineering field;
- Hands-on experience with statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and translating data into insights;
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning;
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to tackle complex engineering challenges;
- The ability to explain technical problems and solutions in an engaging, clear, and concise manner;
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across disciplines, including engineering, data, and client teams;
- An intrinsic drive to continuously improve, standardize, and contribute to the direction of a growing team.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
- A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
