For Airbus Defence & Space in Taufkirchen we are looking for a Dynamic Networking Engineer (d/f/m)
Mission of the Job
- Design the next generation of Airborne and Space-based Communication Systems for critical applications
- Develop Dynamic Networking Solutions based on State-of-the-art technologies
Main activities
- You analyse Networking requirements in airborne and space-based communication systems
- You identify potential Networking technologies and perform trade-off studies
- You create Networking concepts and contribute to development roadmaps
- You validate system concepts and design by implementation of real-time simulations, emulations and prototypes
- You support systems engineering activities by provision of domain expertise and contribution to related documentation
- You contribute to technology and product demonstrations in front of customers and other stakeholders stakeholders
- You support technical supplier management activities including contribution to specifications
- You are willing to do business travels on an occasional basis.
Requirements
- You have a strong academic background in Information and Communication Technology, Communications Engineering, Embedded Systems, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- You have profound knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art wireless communication system technologies, architectures, and standards for military and aerospace applications.
- You have knowledge in IP-based and ICN-based communication approaches.
- Knowledge in 3GPP-based communication systems and architectures (5G/6G incl. Non-terrestrial networks) would be beneficial.
- You have basic knowledge on specific characteristics of space-based (e.g LEO satellites) or airborne host platforms (e.g. Aircraft, drones)
- Basic knowledge in modern project governance and development frameworks, e.g. SCRUM, SAFe is beneficial
- You can speak English and German fluently.
Experience:
- You have related project experience (3-5 years min) in aerospace, defense, or telecommunication industries.
- You have worked with communication protocols including quality of service aspects, routing, control and management.
- You have hands-on experience implementing network protocol stacks on Unix systems, covering functions like routing and queuing management.
- You understand and have implemented L3/L2 Network protocols for fast packet forwarding.
- You understand and have worked with topology management and control algorithms. Preferably for scenarios such as LEO satellite constellations and airborne mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETS).
- You are comfortable implementing all of the above in an infrastructure of distributed VMs, where containerization might come handy.
Tool or product optional requirements:
- Object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C++, Python)
- Cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines
- Advanced user skills for Unix systems
- Networking simulation tools (NS-3, OMNET++, etc.) are a plus
- MBSE Tools (DOORS and CAMEO) are a plus, This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
