In this exciting remote role, you will operate as our founding native mobile engineer. You will bring significant mobile experience and act as the technical pioneer for native mobile development within the company. You will :

• Set the technical direction for how we build native mobile products.
• Establish best practices, workflows, standards and frameworks for mobile engineering.
• Lead the architecture and development of our new mobile-first product ecosystem using React Native.
• Bring deep experience from having taken mobile apps from MVP to scaled, high-quality products in a startup or scale-up environment.

You'll collaborate across product, design, and data teams, working as part of our lean full-stack engineering team to deliver our first mobile app. While you will be our go-to mobile expert, you will have strong engineering team members collaborating with you to ship high-quality features at pace. Alongside mobile-first work, you will also contribute to maintaining and enhancing our existing web services and platform (React, Node, SQL / NoSQL).

You'll work in an AI-augmented development environment (Cursor IDE and other AI tooling) and play a core role in evolving our engineering culture as we build our next-generation financial wellbeing platform.

What you'll do

• Own high-impact changes through the complete software development lifecycle, from conception, design, development, testing and deployment into the hands of our users.
• Collaborate across functions to understand user problems and co-author the product vision that you'll also play a key role in delivering.
• Design, build and ship new features for our native mobile apps (on React Native) delivering exceptional user experiences on iOS and Android.
• Maintain and evolve our existing React web platform, ensuring seamless integration across mobile and web ecosystems.
• Collaborate in an AI-assisted engineering workflow, using Cursor IDE and AI copilots to accelerate delivery, enhance quality and embed intelligent features into our products.
• Work across the full stack (React Native, React, Node.js, SQL / NoSQL and cloud services) to deliver robust, scalable and secure systems.
• Partner with UX / UI and Product teams to create elegant, accessible and consistent user experiences across devices.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and agile ceremonies, bringing thoughtful technical insight and openness to peer feedback.
• Contribute to defining modern engineering standards including CI / CD, automated testing and performance optimisation.
• Prototype and help implement AI-driven features (e.g. personalised insights, chat assistants, recommendation systems) in collaboration with our AI and data teams., * Take responsibility for own continuing professional development and keep up to date by reading relevant journals, attending networking meetings and relevant courses.
• Always be a credible ambassador for the company when communicating with external organisations so that the Company's reputation is maintained, and best interests served.

• Experience with React (web), Node.js, REST / GraphQL APIs and scalable cloud platforms (Azure, GCP or AWS).
• Deep understanding of mobile app architecture, state management, analytics and deployment to the Apple and Google app stores.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and enthusiasm for working in an AI-augmented process.
• Experience with responsive UI design and cross-platform integration.
• A collaborative team player who enjoys solving complex technical problems and delivering impactful features.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail in a remote, cross-functional agile team.
• Familiarity with databases (e.g. Spanner, Postgres, SQL Server, SQL and NoSQL DBs), cloud platform (GCP, Azure and AWS), API and UI design.
• Engineering expertise in software development, including backend, frontend, and connecting the two.
• Experience in modern software architecture, frameworks and design patterns.
• Knowledge of CI / CD tools and processes.
• Ability to collaborate well in a team, self-driven and eager to learn new skills and technologies.
