A high-performing, award-winning ecommerce agency is looking for a Lead Shopify Developer to take ownership of complex builds, technical direction, and team growth. The Opportunity

You'll become the technical lead across all Shopify projects, responsible for scoping, architecting and overseeing feature delivery, mentoring developers, and ensuring the agency continues to deliver beautifully engineered, high-performing Shopify solutions.

This role combines hands-on technical depth, strategic thinking, and team leadership.

What You'll Do

Lead, mentor, and inspire a growing team of developers
Scope and architect complex Shopify builds and features
Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and scalable processes
Work cross-functionally with design, project management, and strategy teams
Participate in client sessions to communicate technical solutions clearly
Drive innovation by staying ahead of cutting-edge Shopify and ecommerce trends
Oversee project delivery, code quality, documentation, and long-term maintainability

Requirements

Proven experience leading development teams, ideally within an agency environment
Deep expertise in Shopify, Shopify CLI, Liquid, JavaScript, SCSS, HTML
Strong background with modern JS tooling (Webpack, Babel, etc.)
Backend experience (Node.js preferred)
High-level scoping ability: breaking down complex briefs and proposing scalable solutions
Excellent communication and presentation skills for client-facing work
Strong version control (Git) and CI/CD awareness
Understanding of SEO principles in ecommerce contexts

Desirable experience includes: OOP/functional programming, testing/QA workflows.
