Cloud Platform Engineer

Join our Cloud Native Engineering Lab as a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (GCP) and help us design, build, and operate secure, automated cloud platforms that empower product teams to deliver API-first services at pace and with confidence., * Engineering Leadership: Be a hands-on leader, balancing deep technical work with mentoring and coaching to raise the bar on reliability, security, and simplicity.

• Platform Development: Design, build, and operate Google Cloud Platform (GCP) capabilities using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and modern CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness, Spinnaker).
• Security & Reliability: Embed secure-by-design principles from architecture to runtime, safeguarding colleagues and customers.
• Performance & Automation: Define and operate against SLOs/SLIs, implement actionable observability, performance tuning, and automation to reduce toil.
• API-First Enablement: Enable API-first delivery with reusable patterns and golden paths for API producers and consumers.
• Community & Mentorship: Mentor engineers, contribute to communities of practice, and uphold Platform Engineering standards.

• Proven experience delivering large-scale systems with high performance, availability, and fault-tolerance.

• Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD systems.

• Deep knowledge of containers, orchestration (Kubernetes), and service-mesh patterns (Istio).

• Strong API design and security skills (REST/OpenAPI, authN/Z, mTLS, certificate lifecycle).

• Scripting proficiency in Bash or Python.

• Depth in GCP services, including:

• GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine)

• Cloud Load Balancing

• Cloud Armor

• Istio

• Stackdriver (Cloud Monitoring & Logging)

• Apigee for API Management

Desirable: Harness, HashiCorp Vault, Dynatrace, Docker/buildah, NodeJS for API tooling, relevant GCP certifications., * Delivered automated, hybrid-cloud platforms in agile teams.

• Collaborate across architecture and business stakeholders.
• Technology-agnostic mindset-choose the best tool for the job and stay curious.
• Enjoy mentoring and raising the engineering bar as a hands-on player-coach.

Preferred Skills

• Harness, HashiCorp Vault, Dynatrace, Docker/buildah, NodeJS for API tooling, Google Professional Cloud Architect or GCP DevOps certifications.
