This role is part of supporting the 'engine room' of DDaT operations, transitioning from outsourced arrangements to an in-house delivery model., The post holder will support the Senior Information Analyst to ensure that the information team is able to successfully deliver on its service level requirements, working to transform trust data into timely accurate information.
The post is to provide analytical support, innovative ways of presenting information and develop new analyses to inform in the monitoring and improvement of performance within the Trust. Supporting the provision of a comprehensive information and analysis service, ensuring the highest quality information is available for all internal and external corporate reporting requirements. This will involve complex analysis and interpretation of all aspects of health information.
You will support health care activities within the NHS, clinical disparate systems and understand case mix and patient flows and operational processes to support divisional objectives., * Lead on Data Analysis: Perform advanced data analysis, applying statistical methods, business intelligence tools, and data modelling techniques to generate insights that support the Trust's strategic objectives across multiple areas, including performance, quality improvement, benchmarking, and operational efficiency.
- Reporting and Interpretation: Create and deliver detailed reports based on complex datasets, translating raw data into actionable intelligence for key stakeholders. Ensure reports align with Trust priorities and support decision-making at all levels.
- Data Integrity and Quality: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all data sources used for analysis, applying formal quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of information governance.
- Routine and Ad Hoc Reporting: Support the production of both routine and ad hoc reports, responding to internal and external information requests. This includes meeting tight deadlines for NHS requirements, regulatory reporting, and Trust performance monitoring.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate Complex Data: Effectively communicate highly complex statistical and analytical results to a range of stakeholders, including clinicians, operational managers, and senior executives. Tailor presentations and reports to the audience's needs, ensuring clarity and comprehension.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clinical, operational, financial, and performance teams to understand their data needs, aligning analysis and reporting with their objectives. Facilitate data driven discussions and workshops to support informed decision-making across the Trust.
- Present Findings: Lead the presentation of data insights, where necessary, in meetings, workshops, and strategic discussions. Provide clear and concise explanations of statistical models, trends, and forecasts, supporting senior managers in interpreting complex results.
- Data Advocacy: Promote a culture of good data quality, integrity, and effective use of information across all departments. Guide stakeholders in understanding the intelligence provided, ensuring they can apply insights to drive improvements in clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Freedom of Information (FOI) Requests
- Support for Decision-Making & Strategic Initiatives
- Contribute to Strategic Decisions: Provide analytical support that directly informs strategic decision-making within the Trust. This includes identifying key performance trends, financial impacts, and efficiency opportunities.
- Benchmarking and Performance Analysis: Use national and regional datasets to conduct benchmarking exercises, assessing the Trust's performance against peers and identifying areas for improvement. Support the interpretation of national policy and assess its local impact in terms of activity, quality, and performance.
- Scenario Modelling: Use predictive modelling and forecasting techniques to simulate potential outcomes based on different strategic decisions, enabling senior management to make data-driven decisions regarding future service developments, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Resource Management & Development
- Data Resource Management: Oversee the Trust's data resources, ensuring secure and efficient use of digital tools, software, and platforms for data storage, extraction, and analysis. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Develop and Maintain Reporting Tools: Use programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to develop bespoke data reporting tools, ensuring stakeholders have access to the right information at the right time. Maintain and update existing data systems to meet evolving reporting requirements.
- Support the Data Infrastructure: Work with the IT and informatics teams to ensure the infrastructure supporting data analysis is robust, scalable, and secure. This includes identifying areas for improvement in data collection, storage, and processing to enhance overall data management efficiency.

Promote Data-Driven Culture: Support efforts to enhance operational teams' understanding of how to leverage data to inform their work. Collaborate with senior analysts and clinicians to develop a culture where data is used to identify problems and generate solutions.

Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to Trust staff on interpreting and using data for their specific roles. Support the development of data literacy among non-technical users, helping them understand the relevance and impact of data insights.

Process Improvement: Regularly review and refine data collection, analysis, and reporting processes. Recommend and implement improvements to ensure the information services provided are efficient, accurate, and aligned with the needs of the Trust and NHS.
- Governance and Compliance
- Information Governance: Ensure adherence to information governance standards, data protection policies, and NHS guidelines, safeguarding sensitive patient data and organisational information.
- Change Control Procedures: Follow formal change control procedures in the production and quality assurance of statistical analyses, ensuring all changes are documented, justified, and auditable.
- Compliance with National Standards: Ensure that all data analysis and reporting outputs meet the requirements set by NHS Digital and other national bodies. This includes understanding and incorporating any changes to NHS information standards, data sets, or performance metrics.
- Innovation and Development of Analytical Tools
- Advanced Data Techniques: Employ advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning and predictive modelling, to identify emerging trends and patterns within the Trust's data. Work to automate routine reporting where possible to free up resources for more strategic analysis.
- System Development: Contribute to the development of the Trust's informatics systems, proposing enhancements that improve data accessibility, accuracy, and timeliness for all users.
- Data Visualisation: Develop and use advanced data visualisation techniques to create dynamic dashboards and interactive reports that provide real-time insights for decision-makers.
- Cross-Team Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with Finance and Operational Teams: Work closely with finance, workforce, and operational teams to ensure that data from these areas is triangulated, providing comprehensive insights into Trust performance. This includes linking activity data with cost and income data to deliver a holistic view of operational efficiency.
- Support Senior Analysts: Assist senior information colleagues in delivering high-quality information services, supporting the production of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the development of performance improvement strategies.
- Interdepartmental Liaison: Act as a key point of contact between the informatics team and other departments, ensuring a seamless flow of data and information throughout the Trust. This includes understanding user requirements and advising on the best approaches for data analysis and presentation.

- Continued Professional Development (CPD): Maintain and develop professional knowledge in the field of data analytics, including staying up to date with the latest tools, technologies, and methodologies. Engage in continuous learning to keep pace with NHS developments and best practices.

Requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience in a role involving analysis, investigation and resolution of complex statistical / analytical queries.
- Experience of contributing to Information Management policies.
- Commitment and willingness to undertake on-going training and development.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within an NHS or health sector organization.
- Experience of applying NHS Data Standards and knowledge of the data dictionary, * Excellent working knowledge of computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Excel and SQL/ Management Information Systems.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to interpret data, create reports and communicate findings to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of priorities.
Desirable criteria
- Information experience gained in an Acute setting.
- Experience in delivering training on technical information., * Able to maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders.
- Able to present complex information to staff with limited technical knowledge, and differing levels of understanding and seniority.

- Able to work independently and without supervision and be responsible for own workload, assuring agreed objectives are met.
