Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will be a key player in designing, building, and maintaining our robust and scalable AWS cloud infrastructures. This role requires a deep understanding of AWS services, best practices, and a passion for automation and continuous improvement. You will mentor a team of engineers, driving the evolution of our cloud platforms and ensuring its security, reliability, and performance., * Leadership & Mentorship: guide and mentor a tribe of Cloud Infrastructure Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth. Provide technical guidance, and support their professional development.
- Customer obsession: Become the go-to AWS expert for our key customers. Explore solutions to solve their needs and the needs of their customers in mind, assist in pre-sales to bring the team to the next level.
- Architecture & Design: Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, leveraging best practices and architectural patterns. Contribute to the overall cloud strategy and roadmap.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive the adoption of IaC principles and tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management. Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments.
- Operations & Monitoring: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cloud infrastructure at the customer, ensuring its stability, performance, and security. Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues. Participate in on-call rotations (depending on customer assignment).
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices within the AWS environment. Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).
- Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost optimization strategies for AWS cloud resources. Monitor cloud spending and provide recommendations for reducing costs without compromising performance or reliability.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with other engineering teams (e.g., development, security, data) to deliver seamless and integrated solutions. Communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex infrastructure issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and technologies. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in the cloud infrastructure and processes., 7. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure.
- 2+ years of experience guiding and mentoring engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda).
- Extensive experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts and security best practices in AWS.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) are a plus.
- Fluent English and Dutch and/or French
Bonus if you have experience across one or more of the following areas:
- Deployment and management of kubernetes flavors (EKS, AKS, Openshift)
- Experience with other public cloud providers
- Trilingual (EN/NL/FR) oral and written
