Job description
Do you enjoy understanding how all the puzzle pieces of a business fit and work together, and then using modern tools and automation to make it even better? If so, this role is for you! We're looking for a working student to join our Operational Excellence team.
In this role, you'll learn:
- How core business processes work end-to-end in a growing company
- How modern ERP and CRM systems are used and configured in practice
- How data flows between systems (ERP, automations, reporting) and why this matters
- How to design automations that real teams rely on daily
- How to work with stakeholders across different business team (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations)
- How good documentation and clean systems enable companies to scale
Your responsibilities As part of the Operational Excellence team, you'll work in three main areas: Processes, Data, and Tools:
- Collaborating directly with teams to understand how their processes work, identify improvement opportunities, and design pragmatic and scalable improvements
- Configuring and maintaining parts of Odoo (our CRM/ERP system), including workflows and simple customizations
- Building and maintaining integrations between tools using low-code platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n)
- Supporting the maintenance of core data flows and pipelines that power reporting and daily operations
- Assisting with monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in system integrations and data quality
- Managing user access, permissions, and subscriptions for our business systems
- Documenting process workflows, system configurations, and how-to guides
Requirements
- You're currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Business, Data, IT, or a related field for at least 2 more semesters
- You've already seen an ERP system/data landscape in a business from the inside in a previous working student role, an internship, or a practical project
- You're curious about how businesses work and enjoy improving processes, not just following them
- You work in a structured and reliable way, take ownership of tasks, and communicate clearly
- You're collaborative and adaptable, and enjoy working with team members from different departments
- You're pragmatic, hands-on, and not afraid to learn by experimenting
Technical skills (Don't worry if you don't know everything yet; we're here to learn!):
- Familiarity with CRM/ERP systems (ideally Odoo), low-code automation (Zapier, Make, n8n), other collaborative tools (Notion, Miro)
- Basic to intermediate experience with Python, HTML, XML and SQL, and the ability to read JSON payloads
- Familiarity with data infrastructure is a plus (Google BigQuery, PowerBI, and data connectors like FiveTran)
About the company
Here at mute-labs & Berlin Acoustics, we aim to enable companies to achieve more by democratizing silence in the workspace. And we're not like any other Berlin start-up you might know:
* We're "no tech" : We know how to develop and sell great hardware products with a focus on sound-insulated phone- and meeting booths .
* We have no investors and we really don't want any. We've been profitable since day one.
* We continue to have a steep growth curve - not in employees or coffee cups consumed, but in revenue and profit.
* We're not striving for an exit - we're building a sustainable business for many generations to come.
Wondering what it's like to work here? We made a reel about it!
Are you as excited about mute-labs as we are? Then we are looking forward to getting to know you!
