System Engineer - (Hybrid)

We're seeking an experienced System Engineer to join our team of experienced DevOps Engineers in Barcelona (Hybrid) to drive financial accountability into the heart of our platform. Our team is diverse and skilled, offering a range of platform services within our company, including the Internal Developer Platform (IDP), AI implementations, security tooling, FinOps frameworks, and the GitOps deployment ecosystem. The Role's Key Responsibilities and Tasks. As an eDOer, you will have clear objectives, great challenges and a clear overview of how your work contributes to the global company project and its customers. As a System Engineer in the GITOPS team you will be in charge of:

• Lead FinOps Initiatives: Drive the implementation of the FinOps framework across the company, focusing on cost management, optimization, and financial accountability.
• Build the IDP: Implement and enrich our Internal Developer Platform (Backstage) to improve developer experience.
• Engineer Infrastructure: Provision infrastructure and services including deployment platforms, monitoring, and security tools.
• Automate Everything: Automate, test, and deploy robust solutions to streamline processes. Maintain and optimize this automation for high scalability.
• Innovate with AI: Implement and deploy AI agents for specialized task execution.
• R&D: Research emerging technologies to continuously evolve the platform.

• Cloud & Containerization: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, Helm, …
• IaC & GitOps: Terraform, ArgoCD, Flux, Crossplane.
• Internal Platform: Backstage (Spotify).
• Platform & Observability: Datadog, BigQuery, Grafana, Istio observability tools, …

• Experience: 5+ years of DevOps/Platform Engineering experience maintaining complex information systems.
• Critical Thinking & Strategic Mindset: You don't just execute tasks; you challenge assumptions. You have the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and analyze the cost-benefit impact of technical decisions (FinOps).
• Cloud Native: Proven expertise with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud services, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Coding: Strong programming skills in Python or Go are essential.
• Tooling: Strong command of Git, Docker, Helm and CI systems (Jenkins, GitLab-CI).
• Deployment: Expertise in GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform.
• Bonus: Previous knowledge or experience with FinOps methodologies., * Experience with Applied AI Tools: Demonstrated comfort using practical AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other AI-powered coding assistants.
• Experimentation Mindset: Curiosity and eagerness to explore, experiment with, and integrate emerging AI-driven solutions into software development workflows.
• AI-Enhanced Problem Solving: Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to debug code, streamline development processes, and enhance productivity.
• Adaptability and Learning Agility: Enthusiastic about continuously learning and quickly adapting to new AI features and capabilities.
• Collaboration with AI: Experience or interest in collaborating closely with AI tools as "pair programmers" to complement traditional software development practices.
