Job description

  • Develop, document, and maintain a robust library of high-fidelity operational scenarios, focusing on high-risk mission profiles (e.g., Anti-Access/Area Denial - A2/AD, Deep Strike, Contested Logistics) across all domains.
  • Integrate and calibrate environmental models (e.g., electronic warfare propagation, terrain effects, Degraded Visual Environment - DVE) to accurately reflect the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Force Structuring and Mission Planning (ORBAT & OPO):

  • Define, model, and implement the full Friendly and Opposing Force (OPFOR) ORBAT, detailing unit composition, readiness levels, weapon systems (lethal/non-lethal), and Command and Control (C2) networks, consistent with current Intelligence Assessments.
  • Define or Translate the Mission Operational Order (OPO)-including the Scheme of Maneuver, phase lines, Rules of Engagement (ROE), and Commander's critical information requirements-into executable simulation protocols and event triggers (Master Scenario Event List - MSEL).

Test & Evaluation (T&E) and After Action Review (AAR):

  • Lead the execution of T&E campaigns, utilizing the scenarios to stress-test platform performance and crew decision-making under high-intensity combat stress.
  • Conduct exhaustive After Action Reviews (AARs), analyzing system data, network throughput, and human factors outputs to quantify Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs).
  • Provide clear, actionable intelligence and recommendations to system architects aimed at reducing the OODA Loop time (Observe-Orient-Decide-Act) and improving overall mission success probability.

System Fidelity Assurance: Ensure the accurate modeling of distributed avionics architectures (e.g., MOSA/SOSA/FACE frameworks, embedded processing, RTOS, data distribution services) to maintain the integrity of system-level performance data collected during simulation runs.

Trainings & Mentoring:

  • Contribute to the creation of the Military Helicopters Operations (MHO) learning curriculum
  • Develop and deliver specialized training modules defined in the MHO learning curriculum
  • Mentor new engineers of the department
  • Act as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) resource for the team on current military doctrine and threat environment representation fidelity.

Requirements

Operational Planning Expertise:

  • Mandatory: Deep functional knowledge of Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), Joint Operation Planning Process (JOPP), or equivalent NATO/Coalition planning standards.
  • Proven background in developing and managing ORBATs and OPORDs/OPOs for complex forces.

Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Proficiency: Expert capability in Modeling & Simulation, scenario architecture, and validation of simulated environments against real-world intelligence/doctrine.

System Architecture & Networks: Strong understanding of modular, open systems architecture (MOSA), embedded network protocols (AFDX, High-Speed Ethernet), and their performance impact in a simulated contested environment.

Data Analysis: Demonstrated ability to perform robust quantitative and qualitative analysis of massive datasets to extract tactical insights and inform procurement/design decisions.

Force Multiplier: Proven ability to effectively liaise between Warfighters, Intelligence Analysts, and Engineering Teams.
