Job description
Eneco is committed to accelerating the energy transition through its One Planet Plan, with the ambition to be climate neutral by 2035. Digital and technology are essential enablers of this mission, and cyber security is fundamental to protecting Eneco's platforms, data, and operations.
At Eneco, you contribute to meaningful societal impact while working in an organisation that values responsibility, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Eneco's IT landscape supports critical digital platforms, value chains, and business processes across the organisation. As Senior IT Security Manager, you take a leading role in ensuring this environment is resilient against cyber threats and aligned with regulatory and internal security standards.
You work closely with subject matter experts across the Value Chains and with Group Product Managers within Tech. You act as the primary security point of contact for the IT domain, translating complex technical and regulatory risks into clear insights for senior leadership.
In this role, you help shape how cyber security is governed across Eneco's IT environment, ensuring risks are visible, mitigated, and transparently reported at Management Board level.
- Owning the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cyber security risks across the IT domain
- Acting as the primary security counterpart for IT-related value chains and product domains
- Translating IT and project-related risks into pragmatic security controls and tracking their implementation
- Ensuring alignment with security frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Overseeing security-related initiatives and providing guidance to subject matter experts
- Delivering clear, transparent reporting on IT security posture to senior management and the Management Board
You are a senior security professional who thrives in complex, enterprise environments. You enjoy working at the intersection of technology, risk, and leadership, and you are comfortable taking ownership of security topics that span multiple teams and platforms.
You communicate with clarity, build trust with senior stakeholders, and understand how to balance strong security with business continuity and delivery.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent level of thinking in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, IT Audit, or a related field
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in IT security, IT risk management, or comparable roles
- A proven track record in senior stakeholder management, security consultancy, and executive-level reporting
- Broad knowledge of security standards and domains (e.g. ISO 270xx, NIS2, CIS, Zero Trust, SSDLC)
- Demonstrated ability to translate regulations and frameworks into actionable security controls and monitoring practices
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC) are considered a strong plus
You will join the IT Security, Risk & Compliance team within Eneco's Tech organisation. This first-line security team supports Eneco's value chains and verticals in identifying and mitigating cyber security risks while ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
The team operates in a hybrid model, combining collaboration at the Rotterdam HQ with flexible remote working, and plays a central role in enabling secure digital operations across Eneco.
- You influence the security of Eneco's core IT landscape with direct visibility at senior leadership level
- You work in a complex enterprise environment where security decisions have real operational impact
- You combine strategic responsibility with hands-on ownership in a mature, professional security organisation
