Job description
The Director of IT will play a critical role in shaping and executing Radionix's IT strategy as the business transitions from a centrally delivered group IT model to a more independent, fit-for-purpose IT landscape. This role is a hands-on senior IT leadership position, initially focused primarily on the application and digital layers of the technology stack. The successful individual will lead the disentanglement, rationalisation, and evolution of applications and commercial systems, working closely with senior leadership while remaining actively involved in delivery.
The role requires an individual capable of operating at executive level while also working day-to-day with a small, specialist IT team. It is not a purely strategic or advisory CIO role but offers a clear opportunity to develop into a broader CIO remit over time., * Strategic IT Leadership:
- Define and execute a pragmatic IT and application strategy aligned with Radionix's business objectives and growth plans.
- Act as a senior IT partner to the executive team, translating business priorities into executable technology initiatives.
- Lead the disentanglement of systems and applications from the Keenfinity Group IT environment over a phased 12-month transition.
- Prepare decision papers, options, and investment recommendations for senior leadership.
- Govern IT priorities and investment across the application and digital portfolio, ensuring focus on business value.
- Enterprise Architecture & Technology Roadmap:
- Define and maintain application architecture principles and a clear target-state roadmap.
- Assess future of systems as they transfer to Radionix.
- Lead the design and implementation of commercial and customer-facing systems, including a CRM platform.
- Ensure integration and scalability across engineering, commercial, and digital platforms.
- Identify when specialist capability is required and support future hiring decisions.
- Operational Delivery & Governance:
- Work hands-on with internal IT team.
- Manage key vendors and third-party partners supporting the application landscape.
- Establish appropriate governance, delivery cadence, and prioritisation across IT initiatives.
- Leverage wider group IT capabilities where appropriate, without over-engineering solutions.
- Define and track KPIs related to delivery progress, system effectiveness, and value realisation.
- Digital Enablement & Continuous Improvement:
- Support digital enablement across sales, service, and customer engagement functions.
- Simplify and improve the commercial IT landscape to better support B2B customers.
- Evaluate and selectively adopt emerging technologies (e.g. automation, analytics, AI) where they deliver clear business value.
- Promote a pragmatic culture of continuous improvement rather than large-scale transformation for its own sake.
Requirements
- Education: Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification.
- Experience:
- 10+ years' experience in senior IT leadership roles (e.g. Head of IT, IT Director, Senior Technology Leader).
- Proven experience leading IT transformation, carve-outs, or stand-up environments.
- Strong background in application ownership and enterprise systems, rather than purely infrastructure-led roles.
- Experience working in global or multi-site organisations.
- Industry experience in B2B product, engineering, or manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Core Competencies:
- Application strategy, IT transformation, and vendor management.
- Enterprise Architecture concepts and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, ArchiMate), applied pragmatically.
- Strong knowledge of CRM platforms, systems integration, and digital applications.
- Ability to balance hands-on delivery with senior-level governance and decision-making.
- Soft Skills:
- Credible executive-level communicator who can also engage effectively with technical teams.
- Pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with strong commercial judgement.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving environments.
- Able to balance structure and control with speed and flexibility.
- Personality and Working Practice:
- Trusted advisor mindset and strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Systematic, structured, and fact-based thinking
- Demonstrated ability to engage in constructive conflict and advocate for the best solution
- Languages: Excellent written and spoken English skills
