Due to our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and inspiring Development Manager. Supporting our Chief Technology Officer, you will help in leading our software development teams. This role is responsible for building high-performing developers and increasing velocity, whilst embedding a strong culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
The Development Manager will balance people leadership, delivery oversight and technical credibility whilst ensuring teams are motivated, aligned to business goals and consistently delivering high-quality software. The role will also involve close collaboration with stakeholders across the business to align development work with strategic goals and ensure clear communication between the Tech team and other departments.
Key requirements include:
- You will be a keen technologist, always keeping up to date with new and emerging technologies and able to pick up new languages and tools quickly
- You will be able to create a culture of ownership where individuals and teams take responsibility for outcomes not just tasks
- Leading by example your will be able to deliver velocity, whilst maintaining quality and technical standards, identifying blockers and inefficiencies to keep teams moving fast and remaining focused
- You will support sound technical decisions and help manage the technical debt in line with long term product goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or several years of experience in ecommerce, computer science, or other related fields
- Committed to good engineering practices (CI/CD, code reviews), * 7 plus years' development experience in a mid-to-large, complex and successful organisation
- Proven experience in managing and developing software developers
- Strong track record of improving team performance, engagement and delivery velocity
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and able to inspire
- Solid understanding of modern software development practices and agile methodology
- Familiar with AWS
- An understanding of architecture, including microservices
- Building and deploying your own code
- Build restful API's
- Taking part in the discovery of new features
