Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Resident Engineer with strong Dell PowerEdge XE-series experience to support a major HPC and GPU-accelerated environment.

The role begins with a fully expensed, on-site engagement in Norway for the first 3 months, followed by remote work from anywhere in the EU or UK.

This position suits engineers who are comfortable working at the hardware, firmware, and Linux level in large-scale, mission-critical compute environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the on-site technical expert for Dell PowerEdge XE-series servers and related HPC infrastructure
  • Deploy, configure, and support NVIDIA GPUs (A100, H100, and similar)
  • Perform hands-on hardware installation, upgrades, diagnostics, and lifecycle management
  • Optimise compute node performance and troubleshoot complex hardware and firmware issues
  • Carry out BIOS, firmware, and driver updates across large PowerEdge environments
  • Replace components and resolve hardware faults in production HPC clusters
  • Work closely with customer infrastructure and operations teams to ensure uptime and reliability
  • Provide best-practice guidance for GPU-accelerated and HPC workloads

Requirements

  • UK or EU citizenship (mandatory)
  • Proven hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge XE-series servers
  • Strong knowledge of Dell PowerEdge platforms, including BIOS, firmware, diagnostics, and hardware troubleshooting
  • Extensive experience deploying and supporting NVIDIA GPU technologies in production
  • Background working with HPC clusters or high-density compute environments
  • Strong Linux skills (RHEL / Ubuntu) for system checks and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently in mission-critical, customer-facing environments
  • Willingness to be on-site in Norway for the initial engagement, then transition to remote work

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with HPC schedulers (e.g. Slurm)
  • Knowledge of InfiniBand or other high-performance interconnects
  • Data centre operations experience, including thermal management or liquid cooling
  • Relevant certifications (Dell, NVIDIA, Linux)
