Job description
The Transition Manager at Zensar orchestrates the end-to-end transition when our team assumes ownership of Product Development and Application Management for a client. This role ensures a smooth and risk-free handover, safeguards business continuity, and establishes a scalable, high-performing operating model that reflects Zensar's standards of excellence.
You will work closely with client leadership, incumbent teams, and delivery organization to build structure, reduce ambiguity, and accelerate readiness enabling a seamless Day 1 and a stable, high-trust partnership., 1. Transition Leadership & Governance
- Lead transition strategy, planning, milestones, KPIs, and readiness criteria.
- Establish structured governance with RAID logs, PMO cadence, and executive communication.
- Align cross-functional stakeholders and ensure contractual commitments are met.
- Represent Zensar as the transition authority and trusted advisor.
- Knowledge Transfer Excellence
- Design and execute structured KT waves (shadow ? reverse shadow ? hands-on ? certification).
- Ensure documentation completeness across product architecture, backlog, integrations, SLAs, SOPs, and runbooks.
- Track competency readiness across onshore/offshore teams and drive capability uplift.
- Secure tool, environment, and repository access to enable seamless delivery.
- Product & Application Landscape Assimilation
- Assess product technical architecture, release cycles, technical debt, and roadmap.
- Understand application management maturity, ticket trends, and operational workflows.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and stabilization priorities early.
- Operating Model Setup
- Build and deploy the Target Operating Model (Agile, DevOps, ITIL blend).
- Define roles, responsibilities, RACIs, workflows, escalation paths, and communication channels.
- Ensure shift schedules, global delivery coverage, and support processes are in place.
- Partner with Service Delivery Leads to establish runbooks for Day 1 readiness.
- Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Navigate change impacts across client teams, incumbent vendors, and Zensar teams.
- Maintain transparent communication with leadership and manage escalations calmly and decisively.
- Lead hypercare planning and ensure post-transition stabilization.
- Relationship & Communication Management
- Serve as the primary transition contact for both Zensar and client stakeholders.
- Build trust through structured communication, timely updates, and crisp leadership briefings.
- Drive cross-team coordination across engineering, product, QA, DevOps, support, and PMO.
- Service Readiness & Acceptance
- Validate readiness across people, process, tools, and governance.
- Ensure product teams and support teams are fully capable of independent delivery.
- Facilitate Service Acceptance and oversee transition closure with clear success metrics.
Requirements
- 8-12+ years in transition management, program management, or service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience transitioning Product Development and Application Management work.
- Strong grounding in Agile, DevOps, SDLC, ITIL, and global delivery models.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale KT programs across distributed teams.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management.
Preferred
- Experience in SaaS, cloud engineering, enterprise product ecosystems, or multi-vendor environments.
- Certifications: PMP, ITIL, CSM/CSPO, SAFe, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Planview, Git, CI/CD pipelines.
