Job description
The Solution Designer is a key part of the product group management and project delivery team, and will work with Architecture and Business Solutions teams to provide end to end solution designs, at both a high and a detailed level, for projects and programmes, taking account of business requirements, while ensuring solutions are aligned to in the technical & corporate strategies and are consistent with enterprise architectural roadmaps.
The solution design role flows from idea generation and technical delivery, supporting projects through the full lifecycle. The Solution Designer will use their knowledge of the application estate and technical options available to design the best value, most fit for purpose solution to meet the business' needs for the project, while working within the confines of the strategic architectural roadmap.

Here's how you will contribute…, * Business Alignment: Collaborate with Business Enterprise Architecture and Solutions teams to understand requirements and strategic objectives for the product group.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with stakeholders to align on goals and ensure successful delivery outcomes.
- Communication: Provide regular progress updates to peers, senior management, and business teams.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary point of contact for solution design and application capability within the product group.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure designs incorporate reusable components and adhere to IT Security standards and corporate architecture principles.
- Strategic Consistency: Align solutions with application roadmaps, enterprise architecture plans, and overall corporate strategy.
- Solution Design: Develop end-to-end technical solutions, produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), and oversee vendor creation of Detailed Designs (DDs).
- Governance: Present designs for approval through Technical Design Authority and Architectural Review Board, ensuring risks and dependencies are understood.
- Risk & Impact Analysis: Identify design risks and contribute to project risk and issue registers.
- Change Support: Provide technical consultancy, support testing, and update designs for scope changes.
- Third-Party Coordination: Manage integration of vendor and partner designs into SGN's solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Maintain technical expertise, monitor industry trends, and stay aligned with SGN strategic change initiatives.
Requirements
- Solutions Design, Architecture or Systems Analysis experience - including working at an ISP.
- Experience in producing High Level and/or Detailed Designs for projects and programmes.
- Experience of requirements management, process mapping and context diagrams.
