Job description

Agilis Search is proud to be partnering with an established and growing business in Ipswich who are looking for a Software Development Manager to join them on a permanent basis due to growth.

As Software Development Manager in this award-winning business, you will build high-performing teams, improve delivery speed, and promote a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with senior technology leaders and stakeholders across the business to ensure software delivery aligns with business goals.

This role focuses on people leadership, delivery, and technical direction., * Lead, coach, and develop software engineers

  • Drive consistent delivery of high-quality software
  • Improve team performance, engagement, and delivery velocity
  • Balance people management, delivery oversight, and technical leadership
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and business stakeholders
  • Support good technical decisions and manage technical debt

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in software development within a complex organisation
  • Proven experience managing and developing software engineers
  • Strong understanding of modern software development and Agile practices
  • Hands-on technical background, including building and deploying code
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of system architecture and microservices
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Comfortable contributing to feature discovery and technical design
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, * Passion for technology and ability to learn new tools and languages quickly
  • Ability to create a culture of ownership and accountability
  • Lead by example while maintaining quality and engineering standards
  • Commitment to good engineering practices (CI/CD, code reviews)
