Job description

An innovative technology business is seeking a motivated Junior FPGA Technician to join its specialist hardware team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of FPGA-based computing, supporting the design, build, and deployment of advanced hardware systems. The Role Working closely with senior technical leadership, you will assist in the assembly, configuration, and testing of FPGA-based computing platforms. Your day-to-day will involve building systems from the ground up - fitting boards, wiring modules, and integrating power, cooling, and peripheral components - while also supporting procurement, inventory, and documentation processes., + Assemble and integrate FPGA-based hardware, cabling, power supplies, and cooling solutions.

  • Work with engineers to configure FPGA modules, backplanes, and related equipment.
  • Carry out basic diagnostics and system-level testing under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, test results, and procedures.
  • Assist with technical procurement, including Bills of Materials, order tracking, and supplier liaison.
  • Organise and maintain hardware inventory and ensure a safe, well-equipped lab environment.

Requirements

You'll bring a solid foundation in electronics, digital logic, or FPGA fundamentals - whether from academic study, personal projects, or early career experience. You are methodical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a hands-on, collaborative environment. Essential Skills

  • Basic knowledge of electronics, digital logic, or FPGA principles.

  • Familiarity with lab tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.

  • Comfortable with computer-based documentation and spreadsheets.

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving. Desirable Skills

  • Experience with FPGA development boards (e.g., Xilinx, Intel/Altera).

  • Exposure to Verilog, VHDL, or FPGA design toolchains.

  • Soldering, wiring, or hardware assembly skills.

  • Previous involvement in technical purchasing or BOM management. Why Apply?
